Building Information Modeling (2 Day Course)

Wednesday, September 13 -14, 2017 – 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Day One will be focused on BIM 101. This is an introduction to innovative technology for building projects. The curriculum answers what is Building Information Modeling (BIM)? Who is using BIM in the Building Industry? What technology tools are commonly associated with BIM? How BIM impacts the design and construction process and changes to the contractual obligations amongst parties involved?


Day Two will be focused on Documents for the Use of planning and executing BIM. Participants will receive three toolkits and a copy of the BIM contract language manual, as well as templates and spreadsheets in preparation for the course. Participants will receive a copy of the Canadian BIM Practice Manual – Volumes 1, 2, & 3.


These courses are valuable for any individual working in the construction industry. BIM technology is already used widely across Canada as a method to benefit project management and all aspects of delivery. Upon successful completion of this course participants will have the knowledge to begin progressively incorporating BIM into their construction projects.


You will receive a certificate of completion. This course can be used towards two credits for the continuing education component of your Gold Seal application.

Cost: $200.00 plus hst for members; $600.00 plus hst for non-members

This course is subsidized by the Canada Job Grant for members of NLCA. The subsidy has been applied to the course cost already. Non-members may register at the full course cost.

This course can qualify for one credit towards the continuing education component of the Gold Seal application.
